What is Document J and why is it relevant?
Document J refers to the Combustion appliances and fuel storage section of the official UK Government Building Regulations 2010 manual. This document gives guidance on adhering to building work regulations while performing services within or to buildings. The Stove and Fireplace Builder is compliant with Document J, meaning that our team always adhere to laws regarding building safety, building development and building usage.
Types of building work covered in Document J:
- Building work including the erection and extension of a building, the provision or extension of a controlled service or fitting, and the material alteration of a building or a controlled service or fitting.
- Material Change of use (where a building or a part of a building that was previously used for one purpose will be used in future for another).
